With all probabilities I had the book by Walt Witman, ?Leaves of grass?, which might have been lost during any of my moves. This is the reason I cannot check whether the poem ?Do not let? appears in this book or it is attributed to him. In any case, in this poem it is written: Be sure to believe that words and poetry it can change the world. Therefore, words are important and we have to take care of what we say, at least it is what I believe.
Today I would like to share with you a poem written by the Nobel Prize, Rabindranath Tagore ant that I listened first time recited in English:
I came out alone on my way to my tryst.
But who is this that follows me in the silent dark?
I move aside to avoid his presence but I escape him not.
He makes the dust rise from the earth with his swagger,
He adds his loud voice to every word that I utter.
He is my own little self, my lord, he knows no shame; but I am ashamed to come to thy door in his company.
This little self is my ego, if only this ego stop speaking more frequently and I could find what I am. Do you like this poem? Do you have any poem to share with us?
